This weekend was so much fun! I went home to Bethel, Maine – home of Sunday River Ski resort. If you are looking for a fun experience with family or friends I highly recommend a visit! The ski resort has SO MANY trails, bars with live music and great hotels. In Bethel you can stroll along Main street and go to a bunch of different delicious restaurants and cute local shops. I’m going to share my favorite restaurant with you, but I will definitely do another post with more about Bethel later on!
My brother and his girlfriend also made the trip up north, and we had a fun family weekend! We kicked off the weekend with wine and card games on Friday night, what could be better?! On Saturday morning we all made sandwiches to bring with us for lunch and were on our way to the mountain! A quick 10 minute drive from downtown Bethel and we were there! I am so grateful that I grew up in this tiny town, so close to such an amazing ski resort!
I ended up having to borrow my friend’s ski pants (thank you Lexi for saving me!) after I realized mine weren’t in my ski bag. After that set back we were out on the slopes, having so much fun! There are 8 peaks at Sunday River, and we went all over the place! Normally I don’t go from one side of the mountain and work my way all they way over to the other side but it was such an adventure, and well worth it! My mom met up with us for lunch after she was done working and the four of us went out for a few more hours, until we were EXHAUSTED! Next stop was Sunday River’s Foggy Goggle for some well deserved Apres Ski drinks and live music.
Even after a tiring day we weren’t done yet! This is where my FAVORITE restaurant comes in to play! Brian’s is probably Bethel’s BEST place to eat. The owner and head chef Brian changes the menu and drink menu seasonally, and is always full of flavor! I treated myself to a cranberry orange margarita, that was garnished with fresh cranberries and a lime slice. For food I ordered a house salad with the most amazing homemade maple vinaigrette to start, then I split an order of scallops over risotto with my mom. My brother’s girlfriend also ordered the scallops and my brother ordered mouth-watering steak tips. We all left happy and very full!
